Chamber of Commerce Presents 50th Night in Old Fredericksburg

At Marktplatz, midst historic Downtown Fredericksburg Texas properties, the Night in Old Fredericksburg Festival invites all to celebrate 50 years of ongoing festivals.   Presented by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, the signature annual event celebrates the unique heritage and culture and the special reasons why people love their Texas Hill Country homes in Fredericksburg.

Night in Old Fredericksburg features lots of dancing to traditional German oompah and hot Texas country music.  Gates open Friday, July 19, 2013 at 6 p.m. with The Walburg Boys.  This year’s festivities also feature The Wagon Aces at 9 p.m.  Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 4 p.m., everyone comes back for waltzing, lively German polkas, and ballet music presented by the TubaMeisters and The Polkamatics.  From 8:30 – 10 p.m. Saturday, singer/songwriter Thomas Michael Riley will entertain followed by headliner Max Stalling from 10:15 p.m. to midnight.

All the while, children play in the park or ride carnival rides and watch old-fashioned cartoons on a huge outdoor screen.  Vendors serve up great food, beer, and wine and shops offer eclectic varieties of specialty foods, vibrant artworks, home decorations, and great jewelry.

The annual events of the Night in Old Fredericksburg (NIOF) generate funds for students living in Fredericksburg homes and participating in the Fredericksburg Marching Band to be able to attend out-of-state competitions.

Folks can help the Fredericksburg Marching Band by becoming members of the CLUB 50 for $50.  Membership includes a CLUB 50 limited-edition commemorative pin, a festival wristband for entry both days, a souvenir from a Night in Old Fredericksburg, special seating with cooling, and an invitation to attend a reception during the festival.

Admission:  Adults $6 and Children ages 12 and under $1.  Anyone bearing an armband from the Texas Fest Race Meet is admitted free of charge.
