Cycle/Golf Fredericksburg TX Homes – LBJ Texas Ranch – Lady Bird Park

If you buy Texas Hill Country homes in Fredericksburg, you’ll enjoy the LBJ Texas Ranch and Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park and Golf Course with friends and family.  Just three miles south of Fredericksburg Texas homes, beautiful grounds and facilities embody the grandeur of Hill Country real estate.

The Annual LBJ 100 Tour is a great way to take it all in.  Cyclists wend their way through the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park areas.  Participants choose from a 10-mile family ride, or they sign up for the 30-mile, 42-mile, 62-mile, or 85-mile rides.  All push off from the airstrip at the LBJ Ranch.

Luci Baines Johnson led a tour of the historical landmarks on the LBJ Texas Ranch.  Rangers lead the cyclist on a tour of the restored rooms in the Texas White House. Registration begins in February at lbj100bicycletour.org.  Approximately 1400 riders participated in the 2012 event.

Located off Highway 16 South, the LBJ Texas Ranch encompasses the Lady Bird Golf Course, Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, the LBJ boyhood home, and Lyndon Baines Johnson State Park and State Historic Site.

The scenic Lady Bird Golf Course is graced by Life Oak Creek and big old Live Oak trees – the signature of Texas Hill country.  Canvassing 6432 yards, the 18-hole championship course features a clubhouse and grill, meeting room, and banquet facility.  Fully stocked pro shop and professional services are available.  Facilities include practice greens, practice bunker for short shots and long sand shots, and 20 hitting stations.

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park offers 150 acres of recreational facilities including pavilions and a playground.  Visitors can camp, swim, picnic, fish, or play ball.  There are tennis and basketball courts as well as softball and baseball diamonds.

Drop over to the Lyndon Baines Johnson State Park and State Historic Site in Stonewall to view the spring-blooming wildflower fields and abundant Hill Country wildlife: American bison, Texas longhorns, and white-tailed deer.

The Visitor Center is the focal point of LBJ State Park. It contains memorabilia and interactive displays from President Johnson’s presidency.  A two-room dogtrot cabin built by German immigrant H. C. Behrens during the 1870s displays era furnishings.  The history of early immigrants is on display at the 1860s log cabin located just west of the Visitor Center.
