Texas Pecan Land near Fredericksburg TX Homes

Texas land in Seguin is located about an hour and a half southwest of Fredericksburg homes and New Braunfels real estate.  Known as The Pecan Capitol of Texas, the rich Texas Hill Country real estate in Seguin produces three million pounds of luscious pecans every year.

The long-standing county seat of Guadalupe County, Sequin is home to more than 25,000 residents.  Founded in 1838, a decade before most other Hill Country communities, including Fredericksburg, Seguin welcomes newcomers to its strong set of stable traditions.  At the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, new owners of Texas ranches and Texas farms can learn the history of farming and take classes on how to farm.  The top-flight Texas Lutheran University in town offers courses, too.

Seguin’s pretty corridors are lined with large historic homes and smaller cottages.  A record number (20) of buildings feature the Art Moderne style that became prevalent after early settlers of Seguin produced the original concrete here.  In addition, a Texas property search in Seguin turns up new subdivisions of contemporary styled homes.  Homebuyers desiring estate homes in Guadalupe County find gorgeous custom waterfront homes on the Guadalupe River, Lake Placid, Meadow Lake, and Lake McQueeney.

The community features numerous parks and is accessible to recreation.  The tall pecan trees and stately Cypress found along the river in Starcke Park offer grand places for picnicking.

Besides pecans, Seguin area farms and pastures have produced fine cotton.  Other industries in the area include education, medical services, steel manufacturing and the production of products built with steel such as equipment and engines.

When heading south to Sequin for pecans, plan to come during the Pecan Fest Heritage Days.  Miss that event, come anytime and take in local theater, galleries, and nightlife.  Other favorite events include the Freedom Fiesta, Chili Cook-Off, Guadalupe County Fair, Heritage Tour of Homes, PRCA Rodeo, and Cinco de Mayo.
