(Fredericksburg TX real estate also features excellent schools.)

All year round, our vibrant Texas Hill Country communities roll out a carpet of joyful happenings for children, parents, and grandparents.  The traditional Gillespie County Fair is the oldest continuously running county fair in Texas.  Families visit beautiful parks, playgrounds, museums, theaters, swimming pools, river beaches, and unique toy shops.  Older children may raft the river, hop on horseback, participate in organized activities, and visit summer camps near the riverbanks or go hunting with dad or grandpa.

One great resource for Kinderspiel is fredericksburgtexas-online.com.  The website outlines many exciting places to go.  For example, Wild Seed Farm and butterfly haven delights people of all ages.  It is seven miles east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290.  Sauer-Beckmann Living History Museum is east of the visitor center at the LBJ State Park and Historic Site.  Marktplatz is a lovely park in the heart of Fredericksburg at the Vereins Kirche Museum.  Just look for its historic Maibaum or Maypole.  The Pioneer Museum shows the Mannlah family pioneer home and store.

Then, explore Enchanted Rock, one of the largest batholiths in the United States.  Enchanted Rock Park is located just north of Fredericksburg and offers Trail Project Days, Summit Tours, Nature Walks and more.  Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area is an abandoned railroad tunnel.  At night, it is full of millions of Brazilian free-tailed bats.

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, 3.5 miles south, offers 330-acres of pastoral beauty and campsites, tennis, swimming, volleyball, badminton, picnic areas, boating, fishing, golf, and more.  Mo Ranch near the headwaters of the Guadalupe River offers more fun water play.  For wading, tubing, and swimming, also head out to Pedernales Falls State Park.

Children love the lively events.  The community hosts the Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival, Gourmet Chili Pepper & Salsa Festival, Mesquite Festival, and Night in Old Fredericksburg, Oktoberfest, and Weihnachten in Fredericksburg, Christmas festivities, and other popular events.  Children dip in and out of the Fredericksburg General Store where old-fashioned candy and toys await, or the Spunky Monkey.  Hungry families stop at the quaint Fredericksburg Pie Company for a homemade treat.

Fredericksburg Theater Company features nationally acclaimed off-Broadway charm.  It has earned a reputation for the Loudest Applause in Texas Hill Country.  The community also hosts the Rock Box Theater and Children’s Theater, The Point Theater, and Stagecoach Theater.

Spanning 140 acres, the Benini Sculpture Ranch in Johnson City features self-guided driving tours of its large and unusual sculptures. Arrange horseback riding and trail rides at A Getaway Ranch, or stop at Flatrock Park or go kayaking and canoeing in Kerrville. Swim, ski, sail, and slide at Ingram Lake and Dam near Hunt.  The Lost Maples State Natural Area has hiking, rugged limestone canyons and river activities.

The hills are never dull.  For information about investing, real estate, and relocation to the Hill Country, click here to contact Dale Cook or call 830-997-1035.
