2010 Hill Country Tour of Homes Fredericksburg Kerrville Boerne Texas

This coming weekend October 29-31 is an opportunity to dream, plan and build your future Texas Hill Country home in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, or other perfect Texas land.  During the 2010 Hill Country Tour of Homes in Fredericksburg, Kerrville and Boerne, dreamers are able to take a special look into nine custom-built and two remodeled homes in Texas Hill Country.  Visit HillCountryTourofHomes.com for a map.

This is the last weekend for the free Tour of Homes organized by the Hill Country Home Builders Association.  At each Tour Home, the Association is collecting canned goods and packaged foods for the Fredericksburg Food Pantry and the Christian Assistance Ministry to help families celebrate a day of Thanksgiving.

A custom home in Stone Ridge subdivision by Craftsman Construction displays a mix of traditional limestone and board-and-batten siding and contemporary elements.  Hills of Texas Homes presents an upscale classic Craftsman-style home on an oversized lot, built on a budget.

Godsey Homes presents a German-style stone home that was originally a “speak-easy” during the days of prohibition.  The cottage charm of the original structure blends beautifully with a new 2,900 square-foot addition and four-car garage.  Another remodel, by Hills of Texas Homes involved converting a 1960’s contemporary house into an updated, open-concept home for family living and catering to larger events of a winery.

The 2010 Hill Country Tour also includes a classic retreat by Hominick Homes that overlooks the Pedernales River made of Big Block Rock as well as a Mediterranean-influenced design by Las Colinas Builders with arches and rock elements.  A home by Pat Smith & Co. shows how spacious, elegant and cozy a smaller footprint can be.

Rick Shafer Homes entered a new home with a historic feel, set along Grape Creek.  For easy living, Tilson Homes displays an elegantly designed home with clean lines and décor.  This home adds an interesting study area in an opening near the guest bedrooms.  A sophisticated Hill Country home by Tony Roberts boasts 4,400 square feet.

A Hills of Texas Homes entry at 150 Stoneledge in Fredericksburg took the President’s Award this year.  Other awards included Best Kitchen, Best Floor Plan, Best Master Suite, Best Front Elevation, Best Outdoor Living Area, Best Landscaping, and Best Specialty Room.

Tour times are Friday, October 29 1:00-6:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 30 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 31 1:00- 6:00 p.m.
