Activities such as the Fredericksburg Music Club contribute to the high-quality lifestyle available to buyers of Fredericksburg Texas real estate.  The Club is a tribute to the German heritage and European customs that immigrants brought to Texas in the mid-1800s.  Several women living in Fredericksburg Texas gathered in one another's homes to study music. The small study club convened on Tuesday evenings in private Fredericksburg homes on a rotating schedule.

A strong foundation laid 75 years ago enabled the music club in Fredericksburg Texas to endure and flourish.  The Club today is a music organization of international reputation.  Coming up during the 2013-2014 concert season are the following excellent productions offered at no-charge to residents and visitors to Fredericksburg Texas:
  • September 15, 2013:  Pianist Fei-Fei Dong and violinist Rodica Gonzalez, both child prodigies and accomplished young adult musicians
  • November 17, 2013:  Classical guitarist Christopher McGuire, an American musician acclaimed on five continents
  • January 19, 2014:  Mezzo Soprano Kathryn Findlen, singing three pieces by Pulitzer Prize winner George Crumb
  • February 16, 2014:  Violinist Kirsten Yon, acclaimed teacher, performer, and clinician
  • March 16, 2014:  Christine Gauge on harpsichord, cello, violin, and flute performing "TexaFrance Ecoutez"
  • April 27, 2014:  Pianist LoAn Lin, prizewinner for best performance of a Baroque work at the 2012 San Antonio International Piano Competition
  • May 18, 2014:  Mirari Brass Quintet, five friends on trumpet, trombone, tuba, and horn
The year was 1937 when Mrs. William Dietel founded the Fredericksburg Music Study Club.  Alma Dietel encouraged ladies with an interest in classical music to join the club.  They were very organized.  Fredericksburg Music Study Club elected officers, records, and typed up its purpose and articles.  Erina Dietel Heinen, a reporter for the Radio Post newspaper in Fredericksburg, insured the Music Study Club received positive publicity in the local community.

Fredericksburg Music Study Club steadily grew and eventually extended membership to men as well as women.  Mr. Voy Althaus and Edwin Gibson, husband of a gifted pianist, improved the accounting system and helped the Club achieve tax-exempt status.  The name was changed to Fredericksburg Music Club, Inc.

Concerts take place at 3:00 p.m. in Fredericksburg Texas at the United Methodist Church, 1800 N. Solano/Highway 16 N., Fredericksburg, Texas All concerts are open to the public free of charge.  The organization is a 501(C) 3, nonprofit organization.  It is funded through grants, private and corporate donations.  Funds from the annual membership drive total more than 60 percent of incoming funds.  Donations are tax deductible.  Supporters may donate on the website or by sending donations through the mail to Fredericksburg Music Club, Inc., PO Box 1214, Fredericksburg, TX 78624.
