Thanks to the hard work of the Gillespie County Historical Society, life in early Fredericksburg TX real estate is captured at the Pioneer Museum. Also, the Annual Holiday Home Tour in December invites anyone interested to tour historic Fredericksburg Texas homes when they are all decorated for the holidays.

Pioneer Museum is located at 325 W. Main Street on three acres of native Texas Hill Country land.  A couple blocks away in Marktplatz sits Fredericksburg's landmark, the Vereins Kirche, a 1935 replica of the first Pioneer Museum in old Texas Fredericksburg real estate.  The cherished building served as a town hall, school, fort, and multi--denominational church.

Museum facilities not only tell of the rich Fredericksburg heritage but they demonstrate through "real life" early Texas structures and exhibits of early Texas homes and family life, education, professions, and culture.  Encompassing 11 buildings and three off-site locations, Pioneer Museum displays a rich and diverse collection of over 300,000 artifacts.

Historic structures – so different from homes in modern Texas – have been lovingly Incorporated into the story of Texas Hill Country. For example, the Dambach-Besier House at the entrance to the museum was built by F. Dambach in 1869 who sold the house to the Besier Family in 1881.  The reconstruction of the old house at the Pioneer Museum is an accomplishment of the Phase 1 of the History in the Making Campaign in Fredericksburg.

The Fassel-Roeder House began as a butcher shop.  Other rooms were added later.  In the parlor is a coin-operated music box from Leipzig.  Construction of the Kammlah House began in 1849 and was held for generations in the family which operated a general store in the home.  In the 1880s, John Schandua built a home on Austin Street.  It features gingerbread woodwork on the front porch, Although it has always been without plumbing or electricity, it has served for 125 years as a bunk house and now as a Sunday school room for Bethany Lutheran church.  The 1880s Walton-Smith Log Cabin, Weber Sunday House, White Oak School also stand to tell the tales of days gone by.

A variety of events at Pioneer Museum provide fun packed activities for the community: Easter Egg Hunt, Founders Day, Kinderfest, Log Cabin Days, Pumpkin Patch, Roots Music Concert Series, Springs Break, and Tannenbaum Ball.  In addition, the facility serves as the hub of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and offers special places such as The Sanctuary for use by the community.
